Octopus-Inspired Soft Robotic Gripper for Heart Surgery (MICS CABG)
This was my final year dissertation project . In a group of 4 peers we developed a low-cost bioinspired soft robotic gripper geared towards minimally invasive coronary artery by pass grafting . The main inspiration of the gripper was the common octopus due to its grasping capabilities and its suction cups . My main role in the team was overall design and actuation hence the report on the right goes over the initial concept to simulation, testing and integration with the rest of the teams subsystems . During the course of the report I ended up chairing most of the meeting and leading the project ensuring to fill in any gaps the team had.
